I typically do my story times at the North Logan City Public Library, where I currenlty work, the third week of every month. in October (16-25), the library was supposed to be closed for rennovations. Because of this the library was going to be closed during my story time hour. So what did I do? Gave back all the books I had been collecting for my theme, Autumn colors and leaves. Because everything for the rennovation was not approved on time, it got pushed back to the first couple of weeks in November (3-15) and...here I was in a panic needing to prepare story time and all the books I had previously found and pretty much all the books with fall themes were checked out. Therefore, I had to come up with a new plan. What was I to do? I selected a new theme and started all over...
Halloween was only a few weeks away. According to the story time schedule, there was already another day that some of the story time ladies were using the theme Halloween, but I decided to use it anyway. Why? Because my story time was going to be completely different than theirs; different personalities, therefore different ideas. I was not sure what books I could use because a lot of the Halloween books were checked out, but just to my luck one afternoon a patron turned in a large stack of Halloween themed books. I didn't know for sure what was there or what I wanted to use, but I snached them up quick.
As it was, I presented a fun story time using the following Halloween themed books:
I also did the Halloween rhyme 10 Pumpkins Sitting on the Wall will the images taped up on the board.
So I guess it turned out alright. Just know...if you think you are in a panic. Stay calm. Select a new theme or just one book to focus on. Everything will come together. Don't be discouraged when ideas do not flow. An idea will come; you will think of something.

- The House that Drac Built by Judy Sierra (I found images and printed off the different characters in the book with the story on the back and laminated them. I put up the different characters on the board as I went, similarly to a flanel board story.)
- Room on a Broom by Axel Scheffler
